The Opportunity:

Our Corporate Communications team is looking for a Media & Corporate Affairs Executive to contribute to the positioning of Racing Victoria and the thoroughbred racing industry amongst the most respected sporting and business organisations globally. Key to this role is supporting the implementation of the corporate communications plan that builds awareness and engagement and proactively addresses issues.

This role will have responsibility for the execution of RV’s corporate affairs and issues management strategies as a primary contact for media, and providing support and communications advice to internal stakeholders, acting as a partner to our Integrity, Wagering, Racing and Infrastructure teams.

The role does require on-call weekends on a rostered basis.

A bit about you:

  • Journalism or Communications degree and or an associated post graduate qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in communications, journalism, PR or related media field
  • The ability to engage key stakeholders, as well as work in cross functional teams to deliver outcomes
  • Proven written skills – the ability to write concisely, to length and strict deadlines
  • Detailed knowledge of Victorian Thoroughbred Racing and its key stakeholders and events
  • Prior experience using digital and social media platforms for corporate media
  • Previous experience identifying news angles and communicating with media outlets
  • Established sound organisation skills and the ability to prioritise according to demands
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of customer service
  • Competence with the Microsoft Office suite of products, email and the Internet
