The Opportunity:
Our Digital Transformation & Technology team is looking for a Product Owner - Data Platform. This new role will enable Racing Victoria to mature their data capabilities and will be responsible for developing and maintaining a vision for Racing Victoria’s Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) product offering and communicating that vision to the Data Platform Development team and the wider Racing Victoria business.
The Product Owner – Data Platform is responsible for working with key Racing Victoria stakeholders to gather their data platform requirements and translate them into workable epics and user stories for the Data Platform development team to execute against.
Leveraging their deep experience with data governance, definition and steward along with their experience with Product Management/Ownership, the Product Owner - Data Platform must be able to develop and clearly articulate business requirements and convert them into a product roadmap for the platform and lead in the roadmap’s delivery.
A bit about you:
- Proven track record in master data governance and data stewardship that ensured Data Quality and synchronization in Enterprise Data Warehouses
- Significant experience within the data domain and a strong understanding of concepts such as Dimensional Modelling, Data Marts, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, ETL, & reporting.
- Experience with Business Intelligence, Analytics & Data Visualisation platforms
- Experience working with DataOps and Data Analytics Services available through AWS Cloud Services. In particular, any experience working with AWS Kinesis, AWS RedShift, AWS S3 and the like would be highly desirable.
- Skilled at developing and exercising cross-functional influence, translating between business owners and technical teams
- Demonstrated experience in developing a Product strategy, associated roadmaps and requirements in delivering an Enterprise Data Platform
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and articulate product development methodologies, business and product requirements and performance to non-technical audiences
- Experience working within Lean and Agile methodologies for product delivery, and certified in Product Ownership (CPO, PSPO or equivalent)
- Must have demonstrated experience managing impactful programs independently
- Ability to efficiently manage and implement quick-turnaround, tactical projects as a team player
- Follows through with commitments and fosters mutual trust with fellow Innovators
- Ability to explain data and analytical outcomes and technical roadblocks in business terms
- A tertiary qualification in a quantitative discipline and/or software engineering
- Excellent statistical/numerical skills
