The Opportunity:

Our Wagering team is seeking a dynamic Manager, Commercial Development. The role will be Responsible for ensuring Victorian Thoroughbred Racing is the preferred product of choice for Wagering Service Providers (WSP’s) and will play a critical role in achievement of wagering turnover and gross revenue targets.

Reporting through to the General Manager – Wagering, the successful candidate will take ownership of commercial development and partnership opportunities with WSP’s – ensuring alignment with the Wagering strategy and broader Racing Victoria (RV) strategy. This includes partnering with wagering operators to develop new wagering initiatives and enhance the existing wagering proposition to deepen customer engagement, grow participation and create new revenue opportunities.

The successful incumbent would possess:

  • Intimate knowledge of Wagering industry.
  • A committed approach to setting and meeting business targets.
  • Strategic and lateral thinking capability, and drive innovative alternatives and solutions with sound judgement and strong commercial acumen.
  • Proven high level commercial negotiation skills, and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to builds and sustain relationships with stakeholders that advance organisational objectives and champions important issues.
  • Experience in managing staff performance, addresses and resolves team and individual performance issues.
  • The ability to drive development and organisational capability.
  • Resilient attitude, with an ability to persist and focus on achieving organisational objectives.
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant business/commercial field (Marketing/Commerce/ Business or similar).
  • Project management and delivery experience.

 Desirable

  • Post graduate qualifications and/or industry recognition in the field of commercial sales/ marketing and/or media asset management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the racing or wagering industry, with an interest in horse racing.
  • Experience working in the sports sector.
