Racing Victoria Limited (RV) is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote and manage the conduct of thoroughbred racing in Victoria.

Throughout the COVID19 Pandemic, we have continued to conduct racing events throughout Victoria, supporting our participants and horses through the continuation of the sport.  We have done this via a dedicated, sustained effort, involving collaboration with all of our Stakeholders and participants.  In our efforts to continue to manage the ongoing risk posed by COVID19, we are looking to add to our Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team through a new role of Risk & Compliance Manager.

The Opportunity:

Reporting through to the Executive General Manager – LRC this role will support RV in the management of COVID19 risk and compliance matters, which will include the oversight of RV COVID19 processes, protocols and responses to COVID19, and the provision to the business of general risk and compliance support.

The role operates within a dynamic environment, requiring decisive action, priority management, sound judgement, strong liaison skills and attention to detail.

This role will require extensive industry consultation and interaction and will suit a risk and compliance professional who is prepared to both get into the detail and engage with a broad set of stakeholders and industry participants.

Key Responsibilities of this exciting role include:

  • Coordination of COVID19 matters, inquiries and incidents, including liaising with our Chief Medical Officer, Crisis Management Team and the coordination of responses at an individual, organisational and industry level.
  • Actioning items following internal and industry-wide working group meetings, including updating protocols, policies and procedures, strategic plans and other risk assessments and documentation.
  • Maintaining and updating established COVID19 protocols for industry participants and employees.
  • Assisting internal RV departments, including Media and Communications, People & Culture and Procurement & Facilities on COVID19 matters, including safe systems of working.
  • Working with Media & Communications on industry communications and content management to ensure communications reflect the dynamic nature of the pandemic.
  • Coordinating third parties on COVID19-related services and technology as part of RV’s risk management response.
  • Conducting COVID19-specific and other strategic risk assessments with the business.
  • Provision of support to the Head of Risk in respect of risk matters and GM – Legal and Compliance in respect of compliance matters.

About you:

As the successful candidate, you must possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in risk management and/or compliance
  • Empathy, courage and judgement are essential when dealing with often highly emotive situations, involving tight timeframes and uncertainty
  • Strong project management skills and experience
  • Demonstrated understanding and awareness of the key impacts from COVID19 on people and organisations
  • Proven ability to remain calm under pressure and simultaneously manage / coordinate multiple tasks within a rapidly changing environment
  • Attention to detail and effective analysis skills are essential, as is the ability to collate information, synthesise content and present options in a succinct manner
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, to enable the negotiation of outcomes with a range of stakeholders
