With the continued growth in the use of technology to support Racing Victoria’s strategic objectives, we are looking for a passionate technologist and agile thinking engineer to join our expanding Digital Transformation and Technology.
About the Opportunity:
Reporting to Platform Services Manager and working alongside other Engineers and related Squads the Cloud Engineer will assist with the continued growth in the use of technology to support RV’s operational and strategic objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate who wants to build their career in this space.
The successful candidate will have exposure to AWS, Azure, O365, VMware, Cisco technologies and processes to build a successful IT career.
Key Responsibilities are but not limited to:
- Provide operational support and engineering solutions for hybrid cloud environments and applications across the business.
- Gather and analyse metrics from platforms and applications to assist in and enhance performance tuning and fault finding.
- Automate solutions for operational aspects such as monitoring, performance, capacity planning, cyber security, disaster response and any other manual and repetitive tasks.
- Participate in system and network design, platform management, storage and other planning associated with platforms and cyber security.
- Proactively build and maintain sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts.
- Contribute to implementing, maintaining, improving DevOps technology and principles, such as CI/CD pipelines.
- Propose ideas and solutions within the team to reduce the workload by automation.
- Create and update technical documentation, including reports as required.
- Build and operate monitoring to ensure security, availability, reliability, performance, and cost.
- Mentor and train other engineers throughout the company and seek to continually improve processes.
- Analyse current technology utilised within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them.
- About You:
You will be joining an already high performing support team, who are looking for someone like-minded to come on board. Some of the skills and experience you will have include:
- 3+ years’ experience managing AWS infrastructure
- Experience with private, public and hybrid Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, O365, VMC/VMware in particular).
- Experience with IaC (eg. Terraform, CloudFormation) is essential.
- A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating system environments.
- Demonstrated networking experience within a medium-large corporate organisation.
- Exposure to multiple deployment tools.
- Working knowledge of containerisation (eg. Docker, Kubernetes).
- Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.
- Coding and scripting skills and experience (eg. PowerShell, Python) highly regarded.
