Racing Victoria (RV) is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote and manage the conduct of the racing of thoroughbred horses in Victoria to safeguard its integrity.

We are looking for a suitable qualified Systems Engineer to join our Digital Transformation & Technology Team.

The Opportunity:

The role of the Systems Engineer at RV is responsible to assist with the continued growth in the use of technology to support Racing Victoria’s IT infrastructure, operations and strategic objectives.

This position is responsible for the day to day management and operations of the IT infrastructure, ensuring services availability and adherence to agreed service targets.

The Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximise the benefit of IT systems investments.

The successful candidate will have exposure to Hybrid Cloud technologies, including but not limited to AWS, Azure, Office365 and VMware Cloud on AWS.

Key Responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Plan, design, implement, support and maintain Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure technologies and services.
  • Contribute to the ongoing projects, roadmaps, future innovations and business demands.
  • Monitor, tune and perform trend analysis of the IT infrastructure performance.
  • Manage physical and virtual servers, storage and networks through their entire life cycle.
  • Patch infrastructure systems as required while adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Design and perform server, network and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Reviewing and implementing new security solutions and procedures to maintain and enhance the current cyber security posture.
  • Actively monitor hybrid cloud platforms and associated networks and services, while working directly with external vendors including but not limited to AWS, Microsoft, Cisco, VMware to meet or exceed service availability, security and performance.
  • Establish preventive maintenance programs to ensure ongoing supply of service and minimise potential downtime.
  • Work within the Platform Services team, dealing directly with end-users and business stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts according to agreed service levels, and terms and conditions.
  • Providing backup help desk support and escalation of level 3 IT enquiries.
  • Perform on call afterhours and weekend support duties as part of a rotating roster within the Platform Services team.

About you:

As the successful candidate, you must possess the following:

  • Hands on experience with private, public and hybrid Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Office365 and VMware on Cloud and vSphere in particular)
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure and O365 (Exchange, ATP, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Teams Telephony) implementation, administration and support.
  • Hands on experience with physical and virtual server, storage and networks (eg. vSAN, VM’s etc.)
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Microsoft OS, DNS, GPO, AD, DHCP, ADFS, WSUS, SCCM, Remote Apps etc. in an enterprise environment.
  • Enterprise experience in Email, Web, Endpoint security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of networking: TCP/IP, VLAN, Routing, IPSEC tunnels, SSL VPN, Network Segmentation etc. in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining logging, monitoring and alerting of platforms, applications and networks in an enterprise environment.
  • Proven experience successfully designing, implementing and supporting backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with enterprise grade Cisco routers and switches.
  • Solid experience in Azure Active Directory, Enterprise Apps and Security services.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, Security and Compliance is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with Mimecast, Sophos Cloud, Fortinet, NewRelic, PagerDuty, Splunk, Atlassian and ZenDesk platforms is an advantage.
